おととい 【一昨日 】the day before yesterday . (!(1 ) ｟米話 ｠ では the はしばしば省略される. (2 ) ｟英 ｠ では on the day … ということもある. (3 ) 英語では曜日表現が優先され, 「おととい 」が月曜日であれば (last ) Monday などということが多い （⇨明後日 （あさって ））) ▸ おとといの朝 [夜 ]に (on ) the morning [night ] before last / (on ) the morning [night ] (of ) the day before yesterday . (!(1 ) ╳(on ) the morning [night ] before yesterday とはいわない. (2 ) 今日が水曜日なら具体的に on Monday morning [night ] ということが多い ) ▸ おととい彼を訪ねた I visited him the day before yesterday .▸ おととい来い ｟二度と来るな ｠Come when two Sundays meet .
