Nabokov, Vladimir

Na bo kov, Vladimir |ˈnäbəˌkôf, nəˈbôˌkôf ˈnɑbəkɔv | (1899 –1977 ), US novelist and poet, born in Russia; full name Vladimir Vladimorovich Nabokov. His most notable novel is Lolita (1955 ), about a middle-aged man's obsession with a 12 -year-old girl. Other notable works: The Real Life of Sebastian Knight (1941 ), Pale Fire (1962 ), and Ada: A Family Chronicle (1969 ).
