CROCIN

Cro "cin (kr "sn ), n. Etym: [Gr. (Chem. )(a ) The coloring matter of Chinese yellow pods, the fruit of Gardenia grandiflora. Watts. (b ) A red powder (called also polychroite ), which is made from the saffron (Crocus sativus ). See Polychroite.
