Pla *coph "o *ra, n. pl. Etym: [NL. , from Gr. (Zoöl.)

 

Defn: A division of gastropod Mollusca, including the chitons. The back is covered by eight shelly plates. Called also Polyplacophora. See Illust. under Chiton, and Isopleura.
