Py `rone, n. [G. pyron, an abbr. of pyrokoman.] (Org. Chem. )

 

Defn: An unsaturated cyclic compound, C5H4O2, of which two varieties are known, a and g. g-pyrone is the parent substance of several natural yellow dyestuffs.
