Tecumseh
Te cum seh |tiˈkəmsə təˈkəmsə | (1768 –1813 ) Shawnee Indian chief; also Tecumtha. His plan to organize a military confederacy of tribes to resist US encroachment was thwarted by the defeat of his brother, Tenskwatawa (c.1768 –1834 ) (also called the Prophet ), at Tippecanoe 1811. An ally of the British in the War of 1812, Tecumseh fought and died in Ontario at the Battle of the Thames.
