Apollonius

Ap ol lo ni us 1 |ˌapəˈlōnēəs ˌæpəˈloʊniəs | ( c. 260 –190 bc ), Greek mathematician; known as Apollonius of Perga. He examined and redefined the various conic sections and was the first to use the terms ellipse, parabola, and hyperbola for these classes of curve.
