Rham "nus, n. Etym: [NL. , from Gr. rhamnos.] (Bot. )

 

Defn: A genus of shrubs and small trees; buckthorn. The California Rhamnus Purchianus and the European R. catharticus are used in medicine. The latter is used for hedges.
