POMIFEROUS

a.[L. pomum, an apple, and fero, to produce. ] Apple-bearing; an epithet applied to plants which bear the larger fruits, such as melons, gourds, pumpkins, cucumbers, etc. in distinction from the bacciferous or berry-bearing plants.
