Al sace |alˈsas, -ˈsās ælˈsæs | a region of northeastern France, on the borders with Germany and Switzerland. It was annexed by Prussia, along with part of Lorraine, to form Alsace-Lorraine after the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 –71. It was restored to France after World War I.
