Pho "las, n.; pl. Pholades. Etym: [NL. , fr. Gr. (Zoöl.)
Defn: Any one of numerous species of marine bivalve mollusks of the genus Pholas, or family Pholadidæ. They bore holes for themselves in clay, peat, and soft rocks.
