LEUCITE
n.[Gr. white. ] A stony substance, so called from its whiteness, found among volcanic productions in Italy, in crystals, or in irregular masses; formerly called crystals of white shorl, or white granite or granilite. Hauy called this mineral, amphigene. It is called by some writers leucolite, and by others, dodecahedral zeolite.

Defn: A mineral having a glassy fracture, occurring in translucent trapezohedral crystals. It is a silicate of alumina and potash. It is found in the volcanic rocks of Italy, especially at Vesuvius.
2. (Bot. )
Defn: A leucoplast.
