たまげる be very surprised ; ｟話 ｠be fl á bberg à sted ｟at, by ｠. （⇨驚く ）▸ 芝居に時々行くが実に立派でたまげるばかりだ I go to the theater [see plays ] from time to time, and [╳but ] marvel at the splendid performances there . (!(1 ) 「芝居に行く 」は go to the theater の方が see plays より普通 ． (2 ) 「…行くが 」の前後の文は相反する意ではないので but は不適切 )
