Suez, Isthmus of

Su ez, Isthmus of |so͞oˈez, ˈso͞oˌez suˈɛz | an isthmus between the Mediterranean and the Red seas that connects Egypt and Africa to the Sinai Peninsula and Asia. The port of Suez lies in the south, and the isthmus is traversed by the Suez Canal.
