Defn: To urge to abstain or refrain; to dissuade. [Obs. ] The apostles vehemently dehort us from unbelief. Bp. Ward. "Exhort " remains, but dehort, a word whose place neither "dissuade " nor any other exactly supplies, has escaped us. Trench.
