あたえる 【与える 】1 【渡して相手に持たせる 】【一般的に 】give *; 【贈呈する 】present /prizént /; 【賞などを 】award ; 【称号などを 】confer (-rr- ); 【提供する 】offer ; 【金品 権利などを 】grant ; 【供給する 】supply .使い分け give 「与える 」の最も一般的な語 ．present give より堅い語で ，贈り物を公式に進呈すること ．award 審査などして十分考慮した上で賞などを与えること ．confer 堅い語で ，通例地位の高い人が称号 学位などを授けること ．offer 援助などを提供すること ．grant やや堅い語で ，通例金銭 権利などを要求に応じて与えること ．supply 足りない物を補充すること ．①…を与えられる ▸ その罪人は恩赦を与えられた The criminal was granted an amnesty .▸ 洪水の被災者は食糧を与えられた The flood victims were supplied [were provided ] with food .▸ 与えられた ｟利用できる ｠時間を有効に使いなさい You should make good use of the time available [╳given to you ].②A (人 )にB (物 )を与える a. give * A B ; give B to A .
