CITTERN
Cit "tern, n. Etym: [L.cithara, Gr. Cithara, Gittern. ] (Mus. )
Defn: An instrument shaped like a lute, but strung with wire and played with a quill or plectrum. [Written also cithern. ] Shak.
Note: Not to be confounded with zither.
