n.A fowl of the rapacious kind, the kite, a species of Falco. The word is used in Deuteronomy 14:13. but the same Hebrew word, Leviticus 11:14. is rendered a vulture.

Defn: The common European kite (Milvus ictinus ). This name is also sometimes applied to the buzzard. [Written also glead, gled, gleed, glade, and glide. ]
