Gordon, Charles George

Gor don, Charles George |ˈgôrdn ˈɡɔrdn | (1833 –85 ), British general and colonial administrator. He is noted for crushing the Taiping Rebellion (1863 –64 ) in China and for fighting Mahdist forces in Sudan in 1884.
