GLAIR

n.[Eng. clear, L. clarus, and with Eng. glare, and L. gloria; perhaps with L. glarea, gravel, or pieces of quartz. ] 1. The white of an egg. It is used as a varnish for preserving paintings.
2. Any viscous transparent substance, resembling the white of an egg.
3. A kind of halbert.
