CHRISOM

n.[See Chrism. ] a child that dies within a month after its birth; so called from the chrisom-cloth, a linen cloth anointed with holy oil, which was formerly laid over a childs face when it was baptized. Also, the cloth itself.

1. A white cloth, anointed with chrism, or a white mantle thrown over a child when baptized or christened. [Obs. ]
