おこる 【起こる 】起こる ，起きる happen 物事が偶然に起こることをさす最も一般的な語 ．主語は what や something などが多く ，to ＋人やin ＋場所などが多く後続する ． ▸ 彼らに何が起こったのか What happened to them? occur happenよりやや堅い語で ，in +場所 ，to ＋人, when S +V などが多く後続する ． ▸ その地域で起こりがちな犯罪 the crimes that tend to occur in those areas .take place 特に会議 選挙 変革などが ，あらかじめ想定された通りに起こること ． ▸ 過去に起こった様々な出来事 various events that took place in the past .1 【発生する 】happen ; occur (-rr- ); take * place （⇨［類語 ］）【戦争 火事 革命 伝染病などが突然発生する 】break * out (!事故には用いない ) .▸ 何が起ころうとも no matter what happens / whatever happens / whatever may happen .
