Ken nel ly, Arthur E. |ˈkenəlē ˈkɛnəli | (1861 –1939 ), US electrical engineer; full name Arthur Edwin Kennelly. He worked on the theory of alternating currents, and, independently of Oliver Heaviside, he also discovered the layer in the atmosphere responsible for reflecting radio waves back to the earth.
