ほか （係助 ）〔名詞 「ほか （外 他 ）」から 。近世以降の語 〕体言 活用語の連体形 ，格助詞などに付く 。下に打ち消しの語を伴って ，特定の事柄だけを取りあげて ，それ以外のものをすべて否定する意を表す 。「正解者は数えるほど ―ありません 」「百円より ―貸すことはできない 」「ひとりで暮らす ―しようがない 」

ほか 【外 他 】名詞 1 【他の物 人 】another ; other (s ); the other ; the others; something [someone ] else ; 〖残りの物 人 〗the rest .解説 another は 「もう一つの物, もう一人の人 」の意で, 形容詞として使う場合は通例単数名詞を修飾し, その前に冠詞, this, that, my などはつかない ．代名詞としての other は単数形でも複数形でも用いるが, 単数形のときは, any, some, no などを伴う. 形容詞としては, 普通は複数名詞を修飾するが単数名詞を修飾する場合は any, some, no などを伴う. the other は二つ [二人 ]の中でもう一方を, the others は他の物 [人 ]が二つ [二人 ]以上いる場合に用いる ．else は不定代名詞, 疑問詞, no-, any-, some- のつく副詞の後にくる ．▸ ほかに質問はありませんか Do you have any other question (s )? (!s がある場合は話し手が複数の質問を予想していることを暗示 ) ▸ ほかにだれがパーティーに来ますか Who else is coming to the party? ▸ ほかにお茶のほしい方はいらっしゃいませんか Who else would like some tea? ▸ ほかにデザートを召し上がりたい方はいませんか Would anybody else [any other person ] like dessert?
