GRAPE

n.[This word is from the root of grab, gripe, and signifies primarily a cluster or bunch. ] 1. Properly, a cluster of the fruit of the vine; but with us, a single berry of the vine; the fruit from which wine is made by expression and fermentation.
2. In the manege, grapes signifies mangy tumors on the legs of a horse.
