NOR
connective. [ne and or. ] 1. A word that denies ro renders negative the second or subsequent part of a proposition, or a proposition following another negative proposition; correlative to neither or not.
I neither love no fear thee.
Fight neither with small nor great. 1 Kings 22:31.
2. Nor sometimes begins a sentence, but in this case a negative proposition has preceded it in the foregoing sentence.
3. In some cases, usually in poetry, neither is omitted, and the negation which it would express is included in nor.
Simois nor Xanthus shall be wanting there. That is, neither Simois nor Xanthus.
4. Sometimes in poetry, nor is used for neither, in the first part of the proposition.
I whom nor avarice nor pleasures move.

Nor, conj. Etym: [OE. nor, contr. from nother. See Neither. ]
Defn: A negative connective or particle, introducing the second member or clause of a negative proposition, following neither, or not, in the first member or clause (as or in affirmative propositions follows either ). Nor is also used sometimes in the first member for neither, and sometimes the neither is omitted and implied by the use of nor. Provide neither gold nor silver, nor brass, in your purses, nor scrip for your journey. Matt. x. 9, 1 .Where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt. Matt. vi. 2 . I love him not, nor fear him. Shak.
