Russo-Turkish Wars a series of wars between Russia and the Ottoman Empire, fought largely in the Balkans, the Crimea, and the Caucasus in the 19th century. The treaty ending the war of 1877 –8 freed the nations of Romania, Serbia, and Bulgaria from Turkish rule.
